Design Statement
Our Creative Director Boris says:
The decadia company film outlines the purpose, the people, the products and the heritage of this company in a unique and unexpected way. It provides a look at the heart of this tech-driven company by expressing personality and setting the stage at their very special office location: Inside the buildings of a UNESCO world heritage site – the former Zeche Zollverein. The film connects the worlds of digitalization and the origins of industrialisation in a truly honest way, while being produced with minimal amounts of equipment, staff and time.

Criteria
Idea
decadia excels in the administration and digitalization of pension fund administration for big corporations. As a startup located in the buildings of the once largest coal mine of the world, decadia is reminded every day of the hard work of the miners at exactly this location decades ago. By securing pension payements for over 140,000 pension beneficiaries, the company’s comitment to heritige is in it’s DNA. decadia respects the years of hard work by employees and thus enables a financially secure retirement fund. This is the core motivation for the skilled and diverse employees of decadia.
Form
This film breaks expectiations: starting from a regular, modern startup office scenario, the film quickly exposes the true roots of decadia: The location inside the building of the former world’s largest coal mine - Zeche Zollverein. We connect digital spirit with industrial heriatage. By providing stunning aerial footage from directly outside of the office, the viewer gets a sense of the place’s spirit – only made possible by the resident’s special permission for drone flights over the UNESCO world heritage site. Only using real employees for the video also provides it with an honest and down to earth underpinning.
Function
The film makes it easy to understand and even more important: to feel the true soul of decadia. As decadia provides an „invisible“ product - pension administration – it’s even more important to see the motivation and the people behind their services. This gives viewers a glimpse into the diverse staff of this innovative company and a basis from which to understand their motivations.
Differentiation
Financial firms traditionally illustrate themselves as professional, datadriven and conservative companies, trying to be modern and digital. decadia takes a different approach: being a company founded on the idea of digitalizing processed and automating workflows, tech is in their genes. Along with this decadia has a true commitment to the skills and value of each of their employees, in turn, giving this digital company an honest and friendly face. What makes the film so special: contrasting the digital nature of decadia with the rusty past of the age of the industrialisation and bringing it together in one location.
Impact
This film introduces decadia to new clients on a corporate level as well as attracting new employees to the expanding company. decadia’s products secure the pensions of 140,000 people and provide them a worry-free life at an advanced age. The film itself was produced by a small crew of 2 people with only mobile equipment that fit in a suitcase. The project was realized in less than 2 days – reducing the deployment of equipment, crew, energy and money to the max, while maintaining a great idea and professional execution.
